Setting Sail into History: Exploring Ancient Routes with Kestrel 5500 Weather Meters

On March 27, 2024 an Indonesian crew from Oeseli village embarked on a voyage through time and across the seas. 

These brave sailors set out on a daring expedition, retracing the footsteps of their ancestors who traversed the vast oceans thousands of years ago. And guess what? Our trusty Kestrel 5500 Weather Meters were right there with them, capturing every breeze and ripple along the way.

Let's set the scene for this epic adventure, shall we? Picture a Timor bamboo raft, gliding gracefully across the ocean, its crew navigating the waters with skill and determination. Attached to the raft and the support boat were our Kestrel meters, diligently measuring wind speeds and directions, providing invaluable insights into the forces that guided their journey.

With winds never exceeding 16 km/hr and currents pushing southwest into the Indian Ocean, the crew encountered challenges that mirrored those of ancient seafarers.
